Backyard Compost Bin

## Overview Composting closes the loop on your kitchen and garden waste. This three-bin system lets you rotate fresh, active, and finished compost.

## Materials - 9 pallets or reclaimed lumber - 3" exterior screws - Hinges and latch for the front of each bin - Wire mesh for sides (optional, for airflow)

## Steps 1. Build three adjacent 3x3 foot bins using pallets as walls. 2. Attach hinged fronts so you can turn and harvest easily. 3. Add wire mesh to the sides if pests are a concern. 4. Fill Bin 1 with browns (leaves, cardboard) and greens (scraps, grass). 5. Turn the pile weekly into Bin 2, then Bin 3 as it finishes. 6. Keep as damp as a wrung-out sponge.
