Materials / Tools

  • 2x6 lumber, 2x2 posts, deck screws, weed barrier, soil mix

## Overview A raised bed gets your plants off the ground, improves drainage, and lets you control the soil mix from day one. This design uses two 8-foot 2x6 boards and a few deck screws.

## Materials - 2 boards, 2x6x8 - 4 boards, 2x2x12 (corner posts) - 2.5" exterior deck screws - Weed barrier or cardboard - 8 cubic feet quality soil/compost mix

## Steps 1. Cut each 2x6 in half to make four 4-foot lengths. 2. Screw the corners to the 2x2 posts, checking for square. 3. Lay cardboard or weed barrier on the grass inside the box. 4. Fill with soil mix and level. 5. Plant densely; water deeply.
